What's the
difference between graphics and artwork?
We classify
artwork as specific graphics produced for your web pages and
graphics as those pictures that are available for general use.
Artwork requires you to use some graphic software of which
there are hundreds of programs available from freeware to
expensive corporate design programs. We will look at four
specific programs covering each field. We have chosen these
ones specifically because of the amount of tips and tricks
pages available for these programs. They are also considered
the industry standards.
One of the best
places to get great pull apart artwork is from a place called Digital
Juice. Now its not cheap but if you wait around for the
specials you can pick up a lot of great stuff quite cheap. The
best thing is you can pull it all apart. Here let me show you.

ADOBE
Adobe has a ful
range of very powerful artwork programs designed for web
sites. They are however very expensive and unless you are
looking at becoming a web developer, Paint Shop Pro will do
just as much for a fraction of the price. There is one option
that will get you some of these programs a lot cheaper. I
bought a copy of an older version for a fraction of the price
through a trading post. I have also seen them go cheapley on
some of the auction sites. Just make sure you get the CD and
registration code as they will not load without them.
COMPACT DRAW

The basic
concept behind CompactDraw
is that you draw, edit and combine your shapes, text
and other objects as in vector drawing packages.
However each object has its own bitmap properties as a
color, texture, transparency, many 3d effects, bevels
or casting shadows. The objects have smooth edges and
the feel of bitmap image or rendered scene.
Because everything is editable all the time, you don't
have to recreate the graphics again and again from
scratch just to change small thing.
